ExemptReady provides general educational information about forming a nonprofit organization and applying for federal tax exemption, together with document templates you complete and file yourself. Everything on this Site — the checker, the guides, the templates, and the kit — is self-help material of the kind you could assemble from the IRS's own publications, state filing instructions, and standard reference works, organized into a guided path.
CLEADEAL LLC is not a law firm or an accounting firm, and no one working on this Site acts as your attorney or accountant. Nothing here is a substitute for the advice of a licensed attorney or CPA who knows your organization's facts. Reading this Site, using the checker, or generating a document does not create a professional relationship of any kind.
ExemptReady does not prepare filings on your behalf, submit applications to the IRS or any state, act as your registered agent, or communicate with any agency for you. Every filing described here is one you make yourself, under your own name, paying the government's fees directly to the government.
Only the IRS decides whether an organization qualifies for exemption, and only state offices decide whether a filing is accepted. We cannot and do not promise that an application will be approved, that a document generated here satisfies a particular state's requirements, or that an organization will keep its exempt status. Keeping exemption requires ongoing compliance — annual filings, operational tests, and state renewals — that remains your responsibility.
The rules, thresholds, and fees stated on this Site were checked against official sources (principally IRS.gov and state agency publications) on the dates shown on each page. Agencies change forms, fees, and procedures, sometimes with little notice. Before you file anything, confirm the current requirement on the official source linked from the page you are using.
Some organizations should not go the self-help route. We recommend working with a nonprofit attorney or CPA if your organization involves any of the following: a church, school, or hospital (special rules and documentation apply); real estate purchases or significant assets; activities outside the United States; unrelated business income of any size; joint ventures or subsidiaries; a predecessor for-profit entity; or reinstatement after an automatic revocation where significant donations were received while revoked. The kit says the same thing at each of these points — a template is the wrong tool for those decisions.
